Adapted from a play of the same name by the iconic playwright Haldun Taner, The Ballad of Ali of Keshan follows the story of Ali (Nejat İşler) and his transformation after getting imprisoned for a homicide he did not commit. Sineklidağ is a fictional slum located on the outskirts of a big city. After being granted amnesty, Ali returns home as a completely different man. However, new struggles are right around corner. Even though Ali is innocent, the niece of the victim Zilha (Belçim Bilgin), with whom he is in love is hostile towards Ali. Besides, as a newly elected official, Ali must establish a new order in the neighborhood. Stuck in a conflict between his heart and brain, Ali decides to invent his own epic. The new Ali is now aware that you get oppressed if you are quiet and respectful, but respected if you are rude and cruel in this world.
