Adapted from Haldun Taner’s play, The Ballad of Ali of Keshan follows Ali, wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. Upon release, he returns to Sineklidağ, a slum, only to face new challenges. His love, Zilha, is hostile, and as a new official, he must impose order in the neighborhood. Ali learns that respect in this world often requires cruelty.
