During the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire after the First World War, the city of Smyrna is under invasion. Cevdet (Halit Ergenç) is a colonel in the Ottoman Army at the end of the Balkan Wars. As well as a patriotic soldier, he is a passionate husband to Azize (Bergüzar Korel), a loving father to his children; Ali Kemal (Kubilay Aka), Yıldız (Pınar Deniz) and Hilal (Miray Daner). While fighting on the battlefield alongside Colonel Tevfik (Onur Saylak), an incident turns Cevdet’s life upside down. Now he has no choice but to leave his family behind for a secret mission. While Tevfik helps Azize and her children migrate from Thessaloniki, Cevdet’s dilemma between the love of his country and his family challenges him. It is the tragic story of people affected by extreme conditions. Is it possible that true love remains unwounded in times of war?
